GeMiGaBoK Spearhead Prokhorovka - Belenkhino 2000In January 2000 we organized a Spearhead multiplayer game depicting the Southern portion of Prokhorovka on July 12 1943. This battle saw the Soviet 2nd Guards Tank Corps clash into the SS DR Division.
On these pages you can find maps, initial orders and detailed transcripts of the communication between the off-table commanding officers and the regimental and brigade commanders conducting the battle on the table. The off-table commanders added greatly to the gaming experience. The commanders could only send short notes to their on-table commanders, who could only respond with notes on matters they could actually "see" on the table. The command mechanism differed slightly for the opposing armies. The German CIC drew Spearhead-style orders for his regimental commanders, who could then draw normal SH orders for their battalions. The regimental HQs had 24" command zones for their subordinate units. The Soviet CIC had to take a more direct role, giving specific orders to his subordinates, who had very little say in their battalions' order arrows. All the participants enjoyed the game immensely, and we can heartily recommend multi-player Spearhead battles to all gamers.
