4th Panzer Army decision for operations on 9th July (part of):Due the threat to our flanks and slow advance of the III Panzer Corps, the II SS Panzer Corps battleplan is altered. The II SS Panzer Corps is to shift the axis of advance north-eastwards toward Prokhorovka. The Luftwaffe is instructed to support the new main axis. By attacking through Prokhorovka, I’m convinced that we can, with concentrated air support, smash the soviet armoured reserves to its east, unlock the advance of the III Panzer Corps, and open a new, albeit longer, approach to the key city of Kursk. This would propably allow Model to breaktrough in the north. Colonel General Hermann Hoth Commander 4th Panzer Army 9th July (Afternoon) Mission for Das Reich on 12th July:Division Das Reich is to advance eastward with one regiment, seize Storozhevoe 1 and Vinogradovka, clear soviet forces from southern approaches to Prokhorovka, and protect Leibstandarte’s right flank. Das Reich is facing heavily entrenched infantry with extensive minefields all along its sector. The main defenses are located along the "Ivanovka" river-Viselok line, with strong forward positions around Belenkhino. Division directly in front of Das Reich is identified as 183rd Rifle division and is estimated at 80% strength. Das Reich has been engaging 183rd’s forward defenses for last two days. In support of 183rd enemy has been using main forces 2nd Tank Corps. After heavy fighting during previous days with DR and LSSAH the 2nd Tank Corps has suffered heavy losses and it’s strength is estimated at 50% with less than 100 tanks. The unit is no longer effective attack formation. In support of his defense of Prokhorovka enemy has brought up 5th Guards Tank Army with 2 tank and one mechanised corps. Its believed that they will use this force to counterattack any breakthroughs in this area. Orders from the SSDR Divisional Commander to the players:POSITIONS:2SS Div HQ (JANNE) Offboard near Tetrevino. 2SS Reg (OTSO) Offboard near Tetrevino. 3SS Reg (TUMBA) Around Viselok, the woods east of it and hill 301. 4SS Reg (JUSSI) Around Kalinin, north and south of the village. I emphasize that the Division DOES NOT have reserves, as these have already been used to increase the size of the Regiments to what they are now. The Regimental commanders have to take care that they themselves keep troops in reserve and that the enemy doesn´t break through the lines and attack to Divisonal HQ and Divisional artillery north of Tetrevino (offboard). REGIMENTAL ORDERS:2nd SS (off-board) Used first as a reserve but nevertheless move to the front around 9.00 in the direction of Jasnaja Poljana- hill 501. Protects the 3rd Regiment´s southern flank and 4th Regiment´s northern flank and destroys enemy´s tank units. 2nd Regiment supports 4th Regiment´s attack on Belenkhino if necessary and is prepared to continue with the 3rd Regiment´s attack. 3rd SS (Viselok) Attacks towards Vinogradovka, defeats the enemy there AND protects the southern flank of Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler Division by denying enemy flanking attempts north of Viselok-Storozhevoe -line. 2nd Regiment prepares to continue with the 3rd Regiment´s attack. 4th SS (Kalinin) Takes Belenkhino and Ivanovka and continues the attack to norteast towards hill 501 protecting the Division´s southern flank. If necessary, 2nd Regiment´ll help taking Belenkhino if 4th Regiment is unable to do it itself.
