The Carthaginian army has taken part in previous DBMättö conventions,
but this time the valiant army and it's skillful player was hampered with incredibly bad luck. Pertti was voted the unluckiest player in the convention and awarded the Fluffy Dice of Gold Award. He also won jointly the Best Sportsman award.

"I wanted to have three things in my army for Mättö III: (1) something strong that can hold a while in the open, (2) something that can worry knight-armies and (3) lots of good bad-going troops. So for (1) I took Sp(S), for (2) LH general and some cavalry and LH, and for (3) Ax(S) and Ps(S). My plan was to take all rough and difficult going terrain I could, channel the enemy and use my good mobility (regular army) to defeat him where it would seem most likely. Good plan (I think), but as usual it didn't survive the first clash with enemy. Hence the result."
